As human beings, we’re dazzled by
the world, and it’s not always easy to see God’s presence. Remember those
‘magic eye’ pictures, which were so popular a few years ago? They project a
busy and colorful design, but obscure another picture which is only discernible
by staring long enough with a relaxed eye. It can be frustrating, but once the
hidden image is perceived, it becomes obvious and delights the discoverer.
Subsequent looks at the picture reveal the hidden image quicker as our eye
grows accustomed to the new level of perception. So it is with seeing God in
our lives.
We begin to recognize his hallmark.
Just as you can recognize a loved one’s room or home by a variety of touches –
a lingering fragrance or a certain touch of color, so we begin to catch whiffs
of God’s fragrance everywhere.
