Back to the camping shop today to take advantage of the
sales as we equip ourselves for a pilgrimage walk this spring. We are total
novices and needed advice from the shop assistant, who has done the Camino.
He demonstrated the selling points of the different walking
sticks, which he recommended for hiking up and down some of the hills and
mountains. A couple of the styles included shock absorbers: in the event of a
fall, the sticks are built to absorb some of the energy of the crash.
Jesus invites us to be ‘yoked’ with him. His strength can
bear the brunt of the burdens; he knows the best way to go; and in the event of
a fall, he can help absorb some of the damage. And get us back on our feet
again.
We bought the poles. And we’re yoked to Jesus. Now we just
have to start walking.
