The forecast was for thunderstorms overnight. We unplugged
everything before going to bed, and were awakened in the early hours by sheet
lightning and the long, low growls of deep thunder. It was predicted that the
storm would pass our area and head out to the North Sea by 9 am. Now, at 10 am,
we are looking at blue skies, watching the birds flit and fly and the cat sleep
in relief.
Less than twenty miles away, in Aberdeen, we’ve seen videos
of torrential downpours causing flooding. The driver of a small red car headed
out onto a street resembling a river. Rather than remaining in safety on the
side, the driver inched the car into the flood streams and began driving,
deeper and deeper, until it appeared to be floating, out of control.
It’s good to have advance warning. It’s good to know what
precautions to take. It’s good to use common sense.
Jesus advises that we stay alert. That we keep aware. That
we focus on him and take our lead from him.
Today, I want to keep that in mind, in everything I do. This
is the day the Lord has made. He knows what’s out there now and what’s coming.
We can move in confidence, when we move in Him.
