Space

Space.

Not outer.

Inner.

Although very often the outer can affect the inner, for good or for bad.

We have a big house. We enjoy hosting B&B guests. We also enjoy hosting friends. Right now we have someone who is kind of a mix between the two, and that is less easy, because it means someone is in my kitchen who is connected to me through a rather thin thread of relationships.

He is very nice. We are doing fine. But there is something about finding the boundaries which will keep us both happy.

Establishing our outer space, so that our inner space can function well.

Sometimes, though, our inner space overflows to the outer space. Like yesterday afternoon at The Well, a space for coming together as the family of God and drawing near to Him as one body. Listening together for his word to us. Lifting him high in worship and praise.

Sometimes just sitting in silence together. Just enjoying ‘being’. Being with God, together, consciously.

Space. When we are one in the Spirit...when we can come together into the presence of God the Father, through God the Son Jesus, via God the Holy Spirit...individual space disappears and we become ‘one’, the Church, the bride of Christ.

Inner space overflows into outer space. And it’s beautiful.

Zephyr

It’s a strange name for a warm wind, zephyr. Well, I don’t mind what it’s called, as long as it stays warm. Of course it’s all relative. It feels warm, because finally today the sun was out and there was warmth in it, and the temperatures rose to 16C or 61F, which is very acceptable.

The daffodils are dancing in the breeze, the swallows have returned to the barns, and the fruit trees are beginning to bud.

Spring is a season of such promise. I just hope that it starts in earnest now, and delivers on its promises.

That’s one thing about God. The Holy Spirit is often described in the Bible as a wind. He blows where he will, doing what he wants. He is powerful, and yet gentle. And the best thing is, he always delivers on his promises.

I just love that.

Jesus has promised to return again, in glory and power, and wipe away every tear and vanquish death and suffering and illness for good. For ever.

I just love that, too.
