How do you define love?
The Father/Son/Spirit love of God inspired self-sacrifice to
the extent of breaking apart a divine relationship for the benefit of ... us. The Message paraphrases Philippians
2 in a startlingly contemporary way: ‘Put yourself aside, and help others get
ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves
long enough to lend a helping hand. Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus
thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of
himself that he had to cling on to the advantages of that status no matter
what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity ...’
May I always aspire to show such love to the world around me
... especially those closest to me. To love without counting the cost.
